A "loser" is not a title you would expect a stage 4 gallbladder cancer survivor to have, but that's exactly what Edie Littlefield Sundby called herself in a recent article entitled "You also can't keep your doctor" in the Wall Street Journal. She writes, "For almost seven years I have fought and survived stage-4 gallbladder cancer, with a five-year survival rate of less than 2% after diagnosis. I am a determined fighter and extremely lucky. But this luck may have just run out: My affordable, lifesaving medical insurance policy has been canceled effective Dec. 31." Edie is just one of the many who have expressed the hardship the affordable care act now imposes. Obama had stated as legislation was being formed as early as 2009 "...if you like your current insurance, you keep that insurance." This promise that softened the hearts of critics at the time but House Republican have recently been crossexamining the presidents promise of being able to keep your own doctor as millions of americans now recieve cancelation notices from there current insurance companies.
As Obama's Healthcare bill unfolds in the coming year many will lose there preferred insurance, doctors, and quality of treatment. Unless Significant repeal and reform is initiated by lawmakers we may all be made losers.
