Cookie Policy

Important notice

Effective May 29, 2026. This Cookie Policy explains how iLocalize ([LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g., iLocalize, LLC]) uses cookies and similar browser storage on ilocalize.com.

1. What are cookies and local storage?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Local storage lets websites save data in your browser with no automatic expiry. We use both for essential features and preferences.

See also our Privacy Policy.

2. Cookies we use

Strictly necessary / authentication

  • sb-*-auth-token (and chunked variants like sb-*-auth-token.0) — Supabase session cookies that keep you signed in securely. HTTP-only; essential for account access.

Preferences

  • ilz-theme — Remembers your selected iLocalize visual theme so pages load without a flash of default styling.

Light / dark mode

  • theme (localStorage, via next-themes) — Stores system/light/dark appearance preference.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies on iLocalize at this time.

3. Local storage (not cookies)

iLocalize also uses localStorage for UX that does not need to reach our servers:

  • ilz_post_as_actor — Last "Post AS" choice (yourself vs an organization) in section sidebars
  • ilz-news-create-draft:{userId} — Autosaved news compose drafts on your device (expires after about 7 days)
  • ilz_sidebar_customize_open — Whether the Customize panel is expanded in account tools
  • ilz_sidebar_account, ilz_sidebar_help, ilz_sidebar_section_{section} — Collapsed/expanded state of sidebar sections

This data stays on your device unless you clear site data. It is not used for cross-site tracking.

4. Third-party cookies

Our infrastructure provider (Supabase) sets authentication cookies when you log in. If we enable payment checkout (e.g., Stripe) or embedded media in the future, those providers may set their own cookies subject to their policies. We will update this page when such features go live.

5. Managing cookies and storage

You can control cookies through browser settings. Blocking authentication cookies will prevent you from staying signed in.

Clearing site data removes localStorage preferences (theme, sidebar state, drafts, Post AS selection).

Most browsers also offer private/incognito modes that limit persistence.
