Terms of Use
Important notice
Effective May 29, 2026. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of iLocalize.com and related services operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g., iLocalize, LLC]. By registering or using iLocalize, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. The Service
iLocalize is a local community platform that replaces fragmented local web experiences with one account across sections such as News, Projects, Services, Shop Local, Gallery, Community, and Classifieds (including Cars and Housing).
Content visibility is driven by the Weight System—community participation with locality and verification factors—not paid reach or hidden ranking. See product documentation for how weighing works.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) and able to form a binding contract. If you use iLocalize on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
3. Accounts and authentication
You register with email and password and/or magic link. We do not support third-party OAuth login on iLocalize.
You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly at [LEGAL@ILOCALIZE.COM] if you suspect unauthorized access.
One person may maintain a user account and participate in multiple organizations through membership—not separate "vendor" accounts.
4. Organizations
Organizations on iLocalize include businesses, schools, teams, clubs, and nonprofits. Creating an organization does not by itself confer verification or elevated ranking weight.
Org owners and admins are responsible for information posted on org profiles, shop listings, bids, and other org-scoped content. Membership roles (owner, admin, member) determine management access via ilz_organization_members—not ownership fields alone.
Multi-location brands may be modeled as linked organizations, each with its own verification and locality where applicable.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit. By posting, you grant iLocalize a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content as needed to operate the Service (including caching, backups, and promoting public posts within the platform).
You represent that you have rights to your content and that it does not violate these Terms or applicable law.
News on iLocalize uses a topic-and-versions model: multiple authors may publish their own version on the same topic. You are responsible for your versions and attributions.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Violate laws or others' rights (including privacy, publicity, and intellectual property)
- Post false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or threatening content
- Spam, scrape, or attempt to circumvent rate limits or security
- Impersonate others or misrepresent affiliation (including fake verification)
- Upload malware or interfere with the Service
- Manipulate the Weight System through bots, coordinated inauthentic behavior, or purchased votes
- Use the Service for unlawful discrimination or dangerous activities
- Collect user data without consent or harvest credentials
We may remove content, suspend features, or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
7. Verification and ranking
Verification (paid mail verification, hometown attestation) affects contribution weight and certain perks—it is not required for basic use. Non-verified users may participate; their weigh-ins carry reduced weight as documented publicly.
You agree not to falsify verification, addresses, or attestations. Abuse may result in loss of verification and account action.
8. Geo-scoped content
Many features filter content by geographic scope. You are responsible for setting accurate geo preferences. Attempts to misrepresent location to manipulate local ranking may violate these Terms.
9. Section-specific expectations (summary)
News — Citizen journalism; multiple versions per topic; geo reach settings apply.
Projects — Users post jobs; organizations bid; awards and reviews should reflect good-faith dealings.
Services — Public organization directory; accurate business information required.
Shop Local — Organizations list products; buyers and sellers must comply with applicable commerce laws.
Gallery / Community / Classifieds — Follow section rules and local laws for listings, media, and interactions.
Additional section policies may be published on About pages or admin settings.
10. Themes and customization
Users may apply official or custom themes and UI customization. Paid themes, when offered, require valid purchase. Do not redistribute purchased theme assets outside the Service.
11. Intellectual property (iLocalize)
The iLocalize name, logos, software, and design are owned by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g., iLocalize, LLC] or licensors. You may not copy, modify, or reverse engineer the Service except as permitted by law.
12. Third-party links and services
The Service may link to third-party sites or integrate third-party tools (hosting, payments, email). We are not responsible for third-party practices.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
User-generated content reflects authors' views, not iLocalize's. We do not guarantee accuracy of news, listings, bids, or org profiles. Use judgment when transacting locally.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, [LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g., iLocalize, LLC] AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
Our aggregate liability for claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless [LEGAL ENTITY NAME — e.g., iLocalize, LLC] and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.
16. Termination
You may stop using iLocalize at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations, risk to users, or prolonged inactivity, subject to applicable law.
Provisions that by nature should survive (licenses for hosted content, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute terms) survive termination.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE/COUNTRY — e.g., State of Utah, United States], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at [LEGAL@ILOCALIZE.COM] to attempt informal resolution. Any dispute not resolved informally shall be brought in the courts located in [STATE/COUNTRY — e.g., State of Utah, United States], unless applicable law requires otherwise.
[Founder: confirm entity, jurisdiction, and whether arbitration is preferred.]
18. Changes
We may modify these Terms. We will post updates on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
