A massive controversy has engulfed the national franchise network Bricks & Minifigs following a multi-part documentary series published by YouTuber Reckless Ben. The scandal centers on a Salem/Keizer, Oregon franchise location accused of seizing a vintage LEGO Star Wars collection worth an estimated $200,000.

The collection belonged to an elderly, terminal collector whose son, Brian Mancel, placed it in the store under a legal consignment agreement. When corporate intervened to terminate the local franchise owner, they took control of the store and its physical inventory. Subsequently, the incoming franchise owners and corporate management refused to return the unsold inventory or pay out the family's portion of sales, hiding behind legal loopholes and local law enforcement protection. Following an aggressive viral activist campaign that pushed the store into default judgment in small claims court, the location abruptly closed its doors, triggering a corporate crisis management response and threats of FBI and legal retaliation against the filmmakers.
